ABOUT STEVE: For over 30 Years, Steve McIntyre-Smith has worked in and around the public accounting profession. Steve has been in your shoes, as a staff member of an accounting firm and ultimately partner and a sole practitioner. He has started, bought, built and sold several practices in the early part of his career, and during this journey made his fair share of mistakes! However, he learned from each one, and refined many techniques that helped him become highly successful while in public accounting himself. After selling his practice in the UK in 1992, he moved into consulting to public accounting firms.
In 1998 Steve moved to Canada and worked in 'Corporate Canada' for a few years, recruiting CAs on Bay Street in Downtown Toronto.
In May 2003 he walked away from the 'rat race' in order to establish his own 'boutique' practice, serving only public accounting firms, to share his ideas and experiences. He has since become an established columnist for 'The Bottom Line', and in 2005 the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants published his first book, 'The Succession Planning Toolkit' for practitioners.
He teaches PD courses, coast to coast, for a variety of CA, CGA and CPA Institutes and has spoken at seminars, conventions and partner retreats in far-off places including Australia, The Bahamas and Bangladesh and others closer to home such as Las Vegas, Aspen, Charleston, Whistler, St. Johns, Vancouver and, of course, Toronto.
